Kinross is Scotland's second smallest county. It measures approximately 15 miles from west to east and 9 miles from north to south. It is located in eastern Scotland. This county has Perthshire in it's the north, Fife in its east and in the west there is Clackmannanshire. A large area of the land here is used for agriculture purposes. Hence it has an abundance of greenery and pleasing views. The higher regions are used for sheep and cattle farming. It is surrounded by hills namely Ochil hills, Lomond Hill, Benarty hill and Cleish hill. It has 2 Islands; one is where Queen of Scots has once held a prisoner in Loch Leven castle, which was build in around 1300 and used for military action as well during the Scottish independence. It has a basin of the lake known as Loch Leven. The heritage trail which is of around 21 km there is simply beautiful, which makes you travel through the woods. Especially this place is known for its birdlife. Another landmark is Kinross House that was designed by Sir William Bruce. Its gardens are open to the public and are worth visiting.
Fruits especially Raspberries are cultivated on the fertile land. The rivers are rich with Salmon and trout. Just 1.5 miles to the north of Kinross is a castle, Burleigh. There you get to see the charming details of the castle. One of the most unique landmarks to see is Orwell standing stones; they are opposite Orwell farm and are angled to one another in an unusual way which has grabbed the attention of many. The towns located here are Balado, Carnbo, Crook of Devon, Kinneswood, Kinross and Milnathort. The biggest music festival of Scotland is held at Balado Activity center. The Rumbling Bridge is well known because of the unique double bridge over river Devon. Scotland Well is another place that is most visited.
